~Course Overview ~
Over the course of this weekend workshop, Clarissa and Stephanie will lead you through the construction of a series of designs inspired by the geometry of the ancient Pantheon in Rome. We will focus on the marble pavement and coffered dome of the Grand Rotunda.
During Saturday’s session, Clarissa will first discuss the harmonious Ad Quadratum and Ad Triangulum proportions used throughout the design of the building. We will then construct a simplified floor plan together, showcasing these proportions before exploring their relationship to the design of the pavement pattern. Finally, we will draw a composition of tiles from the centre of the pavement grid.
During the Sunday session, Stephanie will turn our attention to the geometry of the incredible coffered dome, which to this day remains the largest unsupported concrete dome in the world.

Excitingly, we're also planning a similar 'above and below' themed workshop in January,
this time inspired by the stunning geometries of the ceiling and floor of the Basilica Santa Maria in Trastevere.
The workshop will take place over the weekend of 11th-12th January,
so if you'd like to attend the live session, be sure to save the date!
More details will follow at the end of December, when the workshop is ready to book
