Draw and Build The Fundamentals Of Dimension
Participants will learn how to draw & build with paper and bamboo sticks The Platonic Solids in their original & stellated form whilst learning to manifest surface patterns into three dimensional space.
Theorised upon by Plato, these five geometric constructions and their combinations contain every fundamental law to material existence. He associated each of the four classical elements (earth, air, water, and fire) with a regular solid. Earth was associated with the cube, air with the octahedron, water with the icosahedron, and fire with the tetrahedron. Of the fifth Platonic solid, the dodecahedron, Plato remarked, that "God used it for arranging the constellations on the whole heaven"
Stephanie will present and discuss where to find these forms In The Plant/Ocean World, Ancient Architecture and the mythos & symbolic nature of humankind.
